An original AirstreamBambi

This is a prime example of the early Airstream trailer that literally started a cult. Notice that the shape is much more rounded that Airstreams of today. This smaller model is called a Bambi and is much prized as a collectable today.

I purposely left this picture tall so you could see the height and enormity of the actual building itself here at the Henry Ford Museums. If you take a moment to look up you realize what a magnifiecent structure this building is. It is a artifact of an earlier age all by itself.

We recieved the following E-mail from Charlie Burke over the Internet:

Hi folks, You've got a super page. I'm not sure how you decided that the Airstream in the museum is a Bambi but the sources I have say it isn't. It's too old. According to the exhaustive research of the Vintage Airstream Club of the Wally Byam Caravan Club International Bambi as a model designator did not appear until 1961. Earlier small coaches were either Wee Wind's, Cruisette's or Bubble's. Based on the size and front window, I would wager it is a Wee Wind of late 40's vintage.
