Another Tom O'Brien Car
Unusual grille for a Merc is the 56 Dodge two piece unit.
The colors on this remind me of the famous Hirahata Merc that I saw
in Detroit in 1953. Although the paint on the Hirahata merc wasn't pearl,
it was exactly this shade on both colors. Tom O'Brien saw the hirahita Merc
in Indianapolis show, also in 1953.
Interior and knobs also reflect the Hirahata Merc.
The side pipes are different and unusual addition to the
period custom.The paint job is both strong and yet the ghost flames in the
background are very subtle. This car drew a crowd all day long.
